Siamese – Elegance and Grace The Siamese is an elegant and harmoniously built cat, with a slender, long body and fine, long paws. This graceful cat exudes intelligence and liveliness. The wedge-shaped head rests on a long, slender neck, and is accented by large, pointed ears. The animal has a playful, yet stately appearance. Head The Siamese’s head is long, wedge-shaped and well-proportioned, wide between the ears. The lines of the wedge flow smoothly into a fine, delicate muzzle without interruption. The profile shows a straight nose line that flows into a soft, rounded line of the forehead. The firm chin and well-fitting teeth complete the face of the Siamese. Ears Rather large, pointed-looking ears that are broad at the base. The ears follow the lines of the wedge and are an important part of the characteristic appearance. Improper placement of the ears, either too high or too low, disrupts the perfect wedge shape and is considered a fault. Eyes The almond-shaped eyes are set obliquely, without being too deep. The third eyelid should not cover more than the extreme corner of the eye. The brilliant, deep blue color of the eyes is one of the most striking features of the Siamese. Body, Legs and Feet The long, slender body is tubular and well-muscled, with a subtly rising back line through the longer hind legs. The legs are long and graceful, ending in small, oval feet. Tail The tail is long and whip-shaped, narrow at the base and tapering into a fine point. Coat The coat is short, fine, glossy and lays tight against the body, nicely highlighting the elegant build of the Siamese. Balinese – The Elegant Longhair The Balinese shares the same breed standard as the Siamese in terms of type and markings, but with a unique, silky coat that gives the breed its special appearance. Coat The Balinese has a medium-length, fine and silky coat, with no woolly undercoat. The coat lies smooth to the body, with a lush fluffy tail. Around the chin, neck and tail, the coat may tend to be wavy, although the absence of a collar is preferred. Kittens may have a shorter coat, which develops with time. Point scoring for both races

Points
The points, also known as markings, are clearly visible on the head (mask), ears, legs, feet and tail of the Siamese and Balinese. The mask is connected to the ears by stripes, and all points have the same basic color. The contrast between the points and the body color must be clearly visible. Color development of the points is slow in kittens, especially in colors such as chocolate, cinnamon, lilac and fawn.
Tabby points
- Nose leather: May be fully colored or pink outlined in the color of the markings.
Markings in tabby points:
- Mask: The mask shows distinct striation, especially around the eyes and nose, with scarab-like markings on the forehead. There are also stripes on the cheeks and dark whisker pads.
- Ears: A plain point color with as clear a thumbprint as possible.
- Legs: Display sharply delineated stripes of varying sizes, with “boot” markings on the back.
- Tail: Has distinct rings of different sizes, preferably along the entire length of the tail, and a plain tail tip in the color of the markings.
Shading of body: The shading of the body should be judged as with solid points. There should always be a good contrast between the points and the lighter body color. Not allowed with tabby points:
- No obvious tabby markings on the head.
- Absence of rings on at least half of the tail.
- Different base colors on the points.
